RUTHERFORD & BOND TOYOTA – KAPITI After successfully completing a negotiated refurbishment of the city branch of Rutherford & Bond Toyota, Tim Prescott the owner approached Trademark to build his new premises in Kapiti. Tim had engaged architects from Auckland to produce building consent documentation. They had previously developed the concept design for Toyota New Zealand. Trademark took this package and coordinated the remaining consultant team to produce a total finished product. The site was an old wrecking yard with an existing portal framed building on the front portion. This was striped back to the structural steel structure and altered to suit its new intended purpose as a new car showroom. A new light steel framed building workshop building adjoining the showroom was constructed. This contained toilets, reception and mezzanine staff and meeting room.
The new building required piling due to the poor load bearing characteristics of the soil. The new floor slab was specifically designed for the installation of vehicle hoists and subsequent point loads.
Extensive site works were required to finish the project and give it the crisp clean lines required in the brief. |
